The Grand Re-opening was held June 30 with open house, ribbon cutting, and a Gala dinner and dance. With 75,000 visitors a year and more than 600 programs including fitness classes, the Center required substantial upgrades in order to continue serving the community. Improvements included the expansion of multi-purpose areas; repurpose of the existing physical fitness room; construction of a new fitness area; and other minor modifications such as the expansion of the performance stage and the kitchen storage space. Funding for the expansion came from Proposition 4 of the 2013 Bond Election. Bluestone Partners, LLC secured the construction agreement for the project and City Council approved the $1,536,925 contract at the Tuesday, July 7 meeting.
